Harlem is safe. We were walk home and around the neighbourhood in the earlier mornings from the City. people are friendly, I could ask for directions and they were never shy to have a conversation. everywhere you walk people try to sell you every thing on the streets – newport cigarette, underwear, perfume, shirts, food stamps etc…its all about the hustle on 125th Street.

the muslim population here is large and the religion is popular since Malcolm X

Nation of islam is slowly merging with mainstream islam here
