LA Lakers @ Staples Centre and Downtown

For Me, the only reason to head Downtown LA is to watch the LA Lakers play (or LA Clippers these days!), Downtown is dead, in the weekends its pretty much wide Roads few cars, high rises and no people.

As usual, the Lakers didn’t disappoint. They kept the Blazers under 100 so everyone in the area got two free tacos.A real bonus was Kiwi Sean Marks playing a solid 10min and hitting 2 from 2…I bet, I was the only person in the nose bleed section stoked about that…

On the way home from work I was drawn in by the sounds of a drumline, It was coming from Memorial Stadium where a high school football match just kicked off. Real treasure find! Ive always wanted to see a High school match, especially to see how good they are here and compare to the standard of Gridiron in New Zealand. All I can say is the Hutt valley Spartans (open grade) I was part of got nothing on high schoolers here haha.

Visiting team, Redmond High Mustangs won 27-0, shuting out Garfield Bulldogs. I was pretty guttered with the lost – 4hrs in the Garfield camp with heckling parents got me in the zone. Garfield’s side of the stadium was raging compared to the empty visitor stands across the field. The halftime show was high school musical styles pro and stadium eats was pretty good

On the tranquil shores of Lake Taupo, and next door to the Jack Nicklaus signature golf course there is a cheeky 9 hole affordable for most amateurs. Drop in your cash in the honesty box and your in. Wear what you want and play as bad as your are cuz chances are your the only ones playing.
