Penguins! The Centre acts as rehabilitation and mating centre for injured penguins. You an check out these little guys hobbling around. Some in blue socks haha

The weka Gallirallus australis, also known as the woodhen or bush hen, At first when I first saw it, I was like Damn! that’s a kiwi… but with a beak. The Weka is straight swagger jacking the kiwi. Nonetheless, this endemic New Zealand bird deserves the respect like any other.

Squid – colossal shrinkage, Te Papa

I wouldn’t say the squid at Te Papa was thaaaat “colossal”, but it is pretty damn big. Apparently it suffered colossal shrinkage and was considerably larger than the final measurement of 4.2 metres in total length. Rumor has it, Mid land sushi has brought the squid after the exhibition has finished. More info here if your interested
